How much do you charge for a website?

Our website packages usually start from R4500. However, it really depends on what kind of website you need.

Why are you cheaper than other agencies?

We work remotely which means you don’t pay for the water cooler or beanbag chairs.
We’re a small team that takes on a limited amount of clients each year. You won’t be talking to account managers, you’ll talk directly to the owner, aka Vernita. This saves on staff costs.

Why are you more expensive than other designers

The process we use to build your website takes a certain amount of time and a lot of planning and research. Unlike other agencies, we don't use templates. We build your website from scratch, which means you get a custom designed website tailored around your business. Using our services should not just simply be seen as a business expense, but more as a marketing tool that will add value to your business. 

How are you online through loadshedding?

We are proud to say we are 100% opperational through loadshedding as we have solar panels and batteries that keep us going!

How long does it take to build a website?

A typical website build takes anything from 4 to 8 weeks providing we have all the information from you. Our full web design process is broken down here. Generally speaking, the website will only take a long time if we have to wait for text, images, or feedback from yourself.

How do we communicate throughout the website build?

Before we begin working together, we’ll usually have an initial chat on the phone or via Zoom or Skype to discuss the project. Once we get started, most of the communication will take place over email. All content is collected through our fancy online system called Content Snare. You will love it!

This makes the process a lot easier as we’ll have all of the information saved and can come back to it later. Once we’ve finished the project, we will book your one hour training session.

What will you need from me?

It really depends on what type of website you want. We’ll be able to discuss this on our discovery call before we start working together. Depending on which package we agree on we could need…

  • Images of you and your team and workplace
  • Images and text for each page
  • Staff Profiles
  • Any videos you would like to add to the website
  • Login details to your existing website
  • For ecommerce websites:
  • Images and text for each page
  • Produck images
  • A spreadsheet that we will provide with all your product information
  • Payment gateway logins or API keys
  • Shipping information

If all of this is new to you, don't stress at all. It is all beautifully explained in your Welcome Pack and in Content Snare.

Do you offer a payment schedule?

Yes, we split the payment into four:

• 25% deposit upfront to secure your starting date
• 25% installment when the project is started.
• 25% installment when the development stage starts.
• 25% balance and all other outstanding fees once the website has been tested and everyone agrees it is ready to go live.

Payment plans are available on request.

Do I need hosting?

Yes. Hosting is like renting space on the internet. You’ll need to buy hosting otherwise people won’t be able to access your website. We can organise this for you, just make sure you add this to your package

Who hosts the website?

If we build your website, we will generally manage the hosting for you so you don’t need to do anything. We use the same hosting company for our own website and for our clients. We’ve used the same company for 5 years and we don’t plan on changing this anytime soon.

If you already have a host, we can keep the hosting where you are providing they provide good security, great page load speed, and modern technologies.

What if I don’t want to manage the website at all. Can you do it all for me?

Yes, we can arrange a maintenance package to suit your needs. This can range from one hour per month to a full retainer. 

Can I update the website myself once it’s been built?

Yes. We like to offer the ability for our clients to update the website themselves. We will give you all the training and tools to be able to make website amendments. We use an easy to use platform called WordPress so you can add edit and delete content without paying us to do it for you.

I want to have an email signup form on my website? How can we do this?

When we design your website, we’ll build in all the features you want, including an email sign-up form. As we design all our websites from scratch, we’ll make sure it fits in with your website style and branding.

As you’re collecting customer’s private data it’s best to use a secure and reliable third-party service to make sure you comply with GDPR or POPIA legislation. Our prefered provider is Mailchimp as it is free for the first 2000 contacts but if you already have a provider that is not a problem.

Will you write the text for me?

Absolutely! We have a few copywriters on our books that can create the content for your website so you don’t have to. Just make sure you add that option to your website package.

How can you write the text for my website without knowing the business like I do?

We and our content writers will have as many meetings with you as it takes to understand your business, your target market, and your needs. It helps tremendously if you can give us all the necessary and relevant information and documentation ahead of time so that the content writer has a clear view of the company before the meeting. How much time they get to spend on your project is only limited to your budget.

We will research your market and we’ll learn as much as we need to know to create compelling words that inspire people to get in touch.

How do you build my website?

We design your website from scratch using a number of tools. Our weapon of choice is WordPress which we have used for many years. We have built up an impressive stack of tools that are GDPR and POPIA compliant, have excellent developers, and provide good security and loading times.

WordPress is a platform that’s easily accessible for our clients to update themselves, it’s search engine friendly and it’s easy to integrate with third party companies.

We can build Squarespace or WebFlow websites if that will suit your needs better. Please contact us to discuss possibilities.

Will you buy stock images for me?

Professional photos from a photographer are always best, however if your budget does not stretch that far we will purchase the images for your website. We use stock image websites such as Depositphotos, Shutterstock and 123rf. 

We can also put you in contact with a professional photographer. We have worked closely with Cheryl McEwan on many projects and can highly recommend her. 

Do you do SEO for my website when you build it?

All websites are SEO ready out of the box. That means we have put all the technical aspects in place for Google to be happy.

However, to get a good search result we do offer a package that will start you off on the right foot by doing:

Onpage SEO
Content Optimisation and Submission
Google Submission
Set Up Google Analytics
Set Up Search Console
Page caching and optimising

For the best chance of that number one spot in a search result, and more importantly, to keep that spot, you need extensive SEO, preferably over a long period of time. For that we offer all the above plus:

Google analytics performance tracking
Content Tweaking
Monthly Site Audits

Do you work with everyone?

To be honest, no. When we go to bed at night we want to know that we took money from people who we can really help and that really need us.

Some projects are just too big for us and will use too many resources. In such a case we can refer you to a company that would be a better fit.

Some projects are too small for us. After years of experience and building 100s of sites, we have a starting price of R4500 per site. If your budget can't reach that, we can again refer you to someone else.

There is a small caveat to this...recently we started using different platforms like Squarespace and Webflow, as some websites simply don't need a content management system like WordPress. We can do these websites cheaper, however, we only recommend this as a short term solution until you can afford a more permanent solution.

We will work very closely together for at least 4 to 6 weeks so it is important that both you and us are confident that we are the right fit for one another. This is why we have a free discovery session at the start of the process.

Will you meet with me face to face?

Not unless you prefer to. After working with many international clients in different time zones, and keeping the current situation in mind, we have come to realise that all of our client meetings can be done over Skype, Zoom, phone or even email. It’s rare that we NEED to meet people face to face. Technology allows us to do so much online and in the process saves so much time that we don't think face-to-face meetings are necessary. 

We are always happy to meet you in person if you prefer, but we might charge a small consultation price for travel and possible accommodation depending on the distance.

Do you set up my Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page etc?

Typically not. Social media is not a part of the web design process. However, we are always looking for ways to make your life easier so we work closely with Kreate Design that does social media management and graphic designing for many of our clients.
